About the Department of Nephrology

Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore has served southern India since 1900 as a teaching hospital where patient care, education and research run together.

The Department of Nephrology provides the full pathway of kidney care: prevention and early management of chronic kidney disease, dialysis services, and a kidney transplant programme regulated under THOTA. As an academic department, care is delivered by clinical teams — including consultants, residents, nurses and allied staff — rather than depending on any single doctor.

How our department works

  • Kidney clinics for diagnosis, staging and ongoing management of kidney disease.
  • Dialysis services for people who are not yet — or cannot be — transplanted.
  • Transplant evaluation for recipients and living donors, with independent donor assessment.
  • Transparency in publishing: every clinical page on this site is reviewed by the department before it goes live.

What we will tell you honestly

We will not publish unverified numbers, patient stories we cannot attribute, or superlative claims without evidence. What you read here reflects what a careful clinical team actually asks you and what the science actually says.
